This anthology issue contains two war stories. "I Was Afraid to Fight" follows a soldier who received a Purple Heart during the Bougainville campaign despite claiming he was wounded while hiding from combat; when his unit is later pinned down, a medic is hit and the soldier must overcome his cowardice to help evacuate him to safety, earning the respect of his comrades. "Hitler's Juggernaut" and "Arnhem Jump" depict American soldiers engaged in intense combat operations against German forces, with sequences showing infantry attacks across streams, artillery bombardment, and aerial combat.
