Fightin' Army #62
"Finerty's War" tells the story of a soldier who defies Captain Cullen's orders during a dangerous mission inside a Nazi tomb, believing he knows better than his commanding officer. After being knocked out and coming to, Finerty is court-martialed by Colonel Manowitz for disobeying orders, though the Colonel acknowledges the soldier's combat experience and experience helping mount the D-Day invasion. The narrative reveals that three days before D-Day, June 6, 1944, Willie Manowitz was writing a ghost story about mankind going ashore at Normandy Beach when orders came to get a specific gun or face being creamed, depicting the actual invasion combat that follows.
