"A Special Day!" follows an American soldier during the Korean War in February 1951 who attempts an unconventional mechanical repair on a disabled truck to help his squad, using a manual priming lever on the fuel pump. When the truck starts and begins moving despite Nazi-marked ammunition being loaded into it, the soldier narrowly avoids a shell that turns the vehicle into junk. The story depicts combat action as American forces engage Japanese troops in a strategy reminiscent of General MacArthur's tactics, with soldiers attacking enemy positions and then retreating as planned.
