Fightin' Marines #46
This issue contains two war stories. "The Day We Lost WW II" follows a Marine unit that survives a devastating Japanese attack in which their skipper is killed; the surviving Marines escape and eventually make their way out of the valley where they were trapped, with one soldier reflecting on how the loss of their leader nearly cost them the war. The second story features a Marine general who informs Captain Benton of a dangerous mission: to be the first to land on a Japanese-held beachhead in New Guinea, with a Navy plane providing air support to help them establish a foothold before the main invasion force arrives.
