This anthology issue contains two main war stories. "The Replacement" follows Carmody, an unwanted replacement in the 1st Platoon during the Korean War in February 1951, who must prove himself worthy when ordered to hold the line against the Red Army despite being inexperienced and untested. "1 Man Task Force" depicts 1st Lt. Chet Boland's fourth mission from an aircraft carrier, where he is shot down over a Japanese-held island and must bail out, not knowing what lies below or if he will make it out alive.
