This issue contains two war stories. "He Was Too Mean to Die!" follows a Marine sergeant named Humboldt who is hit during combat but survives to lead his unit in a dangerous mission to reach the colonel before enemy forces kill him; after 400 Japanese are caught in a vise and dispersed, Humboldt's patrol successfully completes their objective. "Outpost" depicts Marines stationed at a quiet inland village where Corporals Henry Lang, John Wolf, and Jake Sears serve with the village militia until a sniper attack initiates combat, with Humboldt's grenade shutting down one machine gun and his unit ultimately defeating the Japanese position.
