Fightin' Navy #123
"The Shame of Cruiser X" depicts a naval battle during World War II in which American forces contend with Japanese aircraft and warships. Pilot Captain Landery receives information about an enemy ship in the Rabaul area and coordinates with carrier-based bombers to locate and attack it; the patrol planes drop flares to mark the target while American aircraft conduct bombing runs. The Japanese cruiser and its destroyer escorts engage in fierce combat with the American vessels, with main batteries concentrating fire on the cruiser while secondary batteries target the destroyers, ultimately resulting in significant damage to the enemy fleet.
