Fightin' Navy #75
"Thirty Year Man" follows Pew Wallace, a naval pilot nearing the end of his thirty-year service, who encounters an old acquaintance and is asked to marry her before his hitch ends. Wallace agrees, but when he's assigned shore duty and tries to make arrangements, he becomes entangled in a humorous dispute with a fellow serviceman over sleep schedules and work hours aboard ship. The story takes a dramatic turn when an APA (attack transport) changes course and, during a landing operation on a rugged coast, enemy soldiers attack the beach party; Wallace and the men must fight off the assault, with Blackie playing a key role in the defense.
