This issue contains two stories. "The Fighting Man" follows Ensign Aragon aboard the U.S.S. Bones as he attempts to stop a Japanese machine gun nest; after being wounded and receiving medical treatment, he later takes out three enemy machine guns and earns commendation for his bravery. "Use Your Head–Marine!" is a first-person account by John O'Bannon recounting his family's naval legacy, his training as a Marine, and combat operations during World War II, including engagements on Iwo Jima and supply route missions. "High Courage" depicts a World War I naval engagement where German U-boats attack American ships, and U.S. destroyers respond by sinking a German supply vessel.
