The main story follows Fritzi as she attempts to win a painting contest, but her schemes to sabotage a rival painter's work backfire comedically. After using turpentine to remove the rival's paint, Fritzi substitutes gasoline as a solvent, which proves ineffective; she then tries to scare away the bees attracted to the rival's beautiful flower painting by setting a fire, resulting in an explosion that destroys her own painting instead. A secondary feature, "Strange as it Seems by Elsie Hix," presents a factual anecdote about Kublai Khan's failed invasion of Japan, where a typhoon destroyed his fleet of 3,500 ships and drowned two-thirds of his 100,000-man army. The issue also includes a "Fritzi Ritz" comic strip in which Fritzi helps a young boy on a swing, with comedic escalations as she pushes him higher and higher until he achieves great height.
