G.I. Joe #16
G.I. Joe #16 (1952) A soldier stationed overseas receives an airmail letter from home that lifts his spirits, only to learn it is a substitute from a fellow serviceman rather than from his actual girlfriend. Back at base, Sergeant Mulvaney leads "Baker" Company into combat against enemy forces in what appears to be a Korean War engagement. After initial success, the company becomes trapped in an enemy pocket and faces fierce artillery bombardment and counterattack. Despite heavy casualties and the loss of their sergeant, the surviving soldiers manage to hold their position until reinforcements arrive and turn the tide of battle.
