This anthology issue contains three military stories: "The Furlough That Wasn't: Ninety-Day Wonder," in which Joe and fellow soldiers are captured by the enemy during a furlough, tortured for information about dynamite fuses on a train, and must escape before explosives are detonated; "The Fable That Won A Battle: The Rout at Sugar Creek," a tall tale about an impossible victory inspired by folklore; and "The Yardbirds," featuring soldiers who improve a jeep through ingenious modifications and must deliver their commanding officer for an important appointment while the vehicle performs remarkable feats.
