Gabby Hayes pursues the outlaw Bluebeard after a stagecoach robbery, but discovers that the criminal he captures is a fake—a disguised gang member sent to decoy the lawman. While Gabby is led on a wild chase toward a volcano, Bluebeard's real gang strikes at a gold shipment from the mint. Gabby eventually sees through the deception when the fake's blue dye washes away in water, revealing the impostor's true identity. In the climactic confrontation, Gabby engages in a shootout with the gang near their hideout, ultimately defeating them and thwarting Bluebeard's scheme.
