Gene Autry is ordered by outlaw Mel King to kill a law-man, but instead cooperates with authorities and Marshal Quinn to arrest King and his gang. When a witness named Ben Leslie threatens to expose the real killer at an inquest, King's men pursue Gene, driving him into Black Gulch Canyon where King himself confronts him on horseback. Gene manages to evade King during the chase through the canyon terrain.
