An anthology of eleven short stories for schoolgirls presented in seven pictures and prose. The lead story, "Their Strange Task in Venice," follows Joy and Linda Mayer as they search Venice for a model named Norma to locate a clock that is a prize for a water-carnival race, discovering that the clock was switched and their search becomes complicated by a mysterious scheme. A second story, "The Tour of the Gipsy Caravan" by Doreen Gray, follows Ann and Jill as they discover mysterious paint damage and vanishing items in a caravan they are helping repair, leading them to uncover a thief operating from within their holiday group. A third story features Lucy and Eva as they flee from a grotto with papers revealing Sir Gerald's treacherous plan to betray their father, becoming entangled in a dangerous conspiracy while trying to expose the villain and protect their family's honor.
