A young woman named Tess falls in love with a man named Hob at a school dance, but her friend Pat introduces her to a wealthy cowboy named Ralph who offers her ten thousand dollars for exclusive picture rights to a Western wedding. Tess initially pursues Ralph for the money to solve her family's financial problems, but during a picnic she realizes she truly loves Hob and tricks Ralph into leaving. When Ralph later discovers Tess with Hob and becomes furious, Donald (another suitor) appears and informs Ralph that Tess's fiancé is actually an actor named Fred, a washed-up Hollywood star. Humiliated, Ralph leaves, and Tess is discharged from a sanitarium where she had been recovering, finally free to pursue her true love with Hob.
