Hot Rod and Speedway Comics #5

This issue contains two racing-themed stories. In the first, young racing driver Corky is challenged by movie actor Val Correy to a ten-car race after Correy has beaten every driver he's faced; Corky loses sleep for weeks preparing, and when race day arrives, Correy attempts various tricks to intimidate and sideswipe Corky, but Corky ultimately wins after Correy's car breaks down. The second story follows Dave, a new driver who finds a car called the Braganza at a track exhibition and becomes obsessed with it; Dave borrows the car to race in a national competition, and with help from Larry and his friend, he wins the race despite pressure from an old-timer who doubted his abilities.
