Hot Rods and Racing Cars #22 A young man named Jimmy unwittingly becomes involved in a scheme when his father takes a hot rod to Glynn Valley for repairs, and crooked mechanics sabotage the vehicle by tampering with its hydraulic brakes. After discovering the tampering, Jimmy and his friend Sandy investigate suspicious activity at the garage and uncover a gambling ring run by criminals named Rawlins who are rigging races and offering drivers money to throw competitions. The story culminates in a climactic harbor buoy race where protagonist Hap Trane, despite having his buggy sabotaged by Rawlins' men pushing him toward a dangerous turn, manages to maintain control and win the race, leading to the arrest of the criminal operation.
