This anthology issue features two main stories: "Shim Burke" follows a racer recovering from a sixteen-day hospital stay who receives a gifted SLR 500 sports car from a mysterious benefactor, then travels to Switzerland for the next race. "Hot Rod Roundup" chronicles George Karl's attempts to set speed records at the Fulton Flat Drag Trials with a borrowed hot rod, including a dramatic near-miss at the trials and an incident where two wheels lift off at over 200 mph, while also recounting Malcolm Campbell's various land and water speed record attempts that led to naming his famous speedboat Bluebird II.
