House of Terror #1

This issue appears to be an anthology containing at least two stories. The first story involves Henry Cushing, who makes a sudden dash for the fireplace, only to be called a fool by another character. A burning log passes through a wall, destroying a portrait and causing a fire that consumes the house, leaving only a painting of Henry Cushing behind—which the butler claims Mr. Belial has collected along with many others. The second story features Gyp and Davie, two London underworld thieves who attempt to rob a gentleman at the Stag Tavern, but their scheme goes awry when they are pursued by authorities through the streets and eventually reach a dead end at a hotel. The final visible sequence shows two men climbing steep cliffs toward a weird rock formation, where they discuss a devil's chair and superstition before proceeding cautiously toward an upright object on the heights.
