Ibis the Invincible #1

Ibis the Invincible uses his magical powers and the enchanted Ibistick to combat an evil beast summoned from an ancient book at a society party. After Ibis defeats the creature, he must retrieve and destroy the magical book before the beast can fully materialize and cause further destruction. The issue also includes a backup story, "Mystic Moot and his Magic Snoot," in which the title character causes chaos at a highway dedication ceremony when his magical snoot goes awry, resulting in confusion over the road's construction.
