"The Treachery of Yellow Hand" follows two unscrupulous frontier traders who scheme to capture Native Americans and steal gold by posing as honest businessmen. The traders encounter a Pueblo chief and his scouts, attempting to trick them into revealing the location of sacred gold. After a violent confrontation, the Native Americans overcome their captors and recover the sacred shield, with the story culminating in the death of the chief and his final blessing that the shield will protect his tribe forever. "Bait for a Scalping Party" depicts an encounter between settlers and Native warriors over a territorial dispute, resolved through combat.
