This anthology issue features three stories: "Manzar the White Indian," in which raiders engage in fierce combat with trappers and a Santee chief's son; "Sacajawea: Bird Woman," depicting the Shoshone woman born in 1787 who was captured by the Hidatsas and later hired as a guide for the Lewis and Clark Expedition; and "Long Bow: Blackfoot Boy," by Captain Stuart Kerrigan, following a young hunter who pursues a black otter that has placed a curse upon him, ultimately discovering the fawn is his uncle's weapon and learning about the Blackfoot law.
