This issue is an anthology featuring at least two stories. "The Great Nez Perce Scalp-Ride" with Manzar the White Indian depicts a conflict at a Pawnee camp where Manzar and fellow warriors defend against attacking forces, with narrative describing tribal battles and the arrival of Prairie Potawatomi reinforcements. "Long Bow" by Captain Stuart Kerrigan follows a young hunter tracking a beaver and attempting to recover his sign, encountering a three-toed lynx and a trap-robber while pursuing game on the rivershore.
