Dorothy meets Jack at a hotel and they begin a romance, spending weeks together at a brownstone. Though Dorothy likes Jack, she doesn't consider him right for permanent commitment until he proposes marriage, which she accepts. However, their plane to Kansas crashes, forcing them to survive on a small island; during the rescue, Larry, an admirer of Dorothy's dancing talent, attempts to win her back, but she rejects him for Jack. After the crash, Dorothy reunites with Jack in New England and they elope to Kansas, where they are caught in a storm on the way to his farm.
