"Conversation Clues" follows Linda, a woman prone to interrupting others and dominating conversations, as her friend Edith points out this unpleasant habit. Linda learns that her incessant talking about herself and her problems has alienated those around her, including her boss and coworkers who find her behavior unprofessional and tiresome. The story concludes with Edith explaining that good conversation skills—listening to others and remembering amusing anecdotes—are what make someone popular and well-liked. Additionally, the issue contains a Western romance story in which Sue attempts to catch a horse to impress Jeff but fails; after being humiliated at a barn dance, Jeff consoles her and they reconcile on the verandah despite her earlier feelings of hopelessness.
