Jewish War Heroes #2
Jewish War Heroes #2 This anthology issue documents Jewish military contributions across multiple theaters of World War II. An opening page titled "Jews in the War" illustrates Jewish participation across the British Empire, North Africa, the German Front, the United States (600,000 enlisted), Russia (500,000 soldiers), Palestine (the Jewish University fought a war of science; the Jewish Brigade fought on the Western Front). The issue includes a biographical story of Leo Frida, a Dutch Jewish patriot who was executed by Nazis after confessing to killing Lieutenant General Seyffardt and assisting in the murder of Dr. H. Reydon and other Dutch Nazi officials, though a student-priest later revealed Frida was not solely responsible for Seyffardt's death. Another featured story is "Major Lewis Migdal," a Jewish military hero whose exploits are presented in comic form.
