Jiggs & Maggie #19

Jiggs and Maggie head to a seaside resort for summer vacation, where Maggie takes a vacation day to go out for dinner, leaving Jiggs with their friends. Meanwhile, "On the Ball" follows Alfred and Gus, office workers at a department store, who accidentally lose a bowling ball that belongs to their company and must recover it before their boss discovers the mishap. In a separate story titled "Self-Improvement Never Hurts," Jiggs attends a library lecture where he encounters a talking parakot at a pet shop, leading to a series of comic misadventures involving the bird and various townspeople.
