This anthology issue contains true crime stories presented as FBI cases. The first story follows the investigation of a murder on a lonely road outside New Orleans, where FBI agents use forensic evidence—including a spectrograph analysis of mud and handwriting comparison—to identify the killer as Louie Staples, a recently discharged Marine who murdered three men, including Corporal Frank Cummings, and robbed them. The second story, "The Case Against Scarface," depicts the rise and fall of a crime boss who built an empire of vice and cruelty but was ultimately brought down by mathematical evidence and testimony from those who knew him, resulting in his guilty verdict.
