Ken Maynard searches for the fifth wonder of the west as part of a serial adventure titled "The Seven Wonders of the West." While traveling through the badlands, he encounters an outlaw named Grizzy Gus who has been hiding in the region; Ken allies with Gus to track down the wonder. The story features action involving eagles attacking from Needle Rock, gunfights with outlaw associates, and Ken using various tricks and his horse to overcome obstacles. The issue also includes a humorous back-up story featuring "Bird Brain," a character who gets lost trying to reach Prairie City.
