Ken Maynard Western #8 Ken Maynard faces a volcanic catastrophe when a big eruption causes an earthquake that splits the ground open. After rescuing a child from the chasm with the aid of his horse Tarzan, Ken becomes trapped on the other side of the opening with burning lava creeping up behind him relentlessly. Ken later encounters the bandit Polecat Polton, who has discovered gold in the newly erupted mountain and plans to hide his loot; Ken pursues Polton across the treacherous avalanche-filled slopes, ultimately cornering him as he attempts to escape with his plundered fortune.
