Lash La Rue Western #68

Lash La Rue pursues a young drifter who has stolen a covered wagon and headed south from St. Louis toward Silvertown. After the wagon reaches its destination, Lash confronts the thief at the general store, where the youth claims he never saw anyone during the journey. Later, the sheriff tells Lash of a past partnership between himself and a man named Wade, noting they had spent years together but never got a laugh out of the arrangement. A scheme involving an investment in a temple and poker game goes awry when one of the conspirators, Wendler, plays dumb but wins all the money; Lash discovers the real crook is a man named Foxy, and the two engage in a violent confrontation that ends with Lash overpowering him and recovering stolen gold.
