Lion #16

1952-06-01 · 20 pages

The issue features three main stories. "Outlaw of Space" follows Captain Condor, a space pilot in the year 3000, and his two companions Pete and Dave as they survive the explosion of their rocket-ship and are rescued by a space-pinnace headed toward Condor's vessel, ultimately reaching his destination despite their ordeal. A second story depicts Sergeant Tempest sliding down a grain chute to escape German forces during World War II, leading to a dramatic sequence on a barge called "La Vaste" where he and another commando named Jack must evade German searchlights and soldiers. The issue also includes "Jingo Jones and His Invisibiliser," in which the young wizard Jingo Jones uses his invisibility powers during a daring raid on a tuck-shop to catch thieves stealing lemonade bottles. Additionally, the magazine contains a "World-Wide Quiz" feature with fourteen illustrated questions on geography, animals, and general knowledge.
