Lion #23 is an anthology containing multiple stories and features. "Outlaw of Space" by Frank S. Pepper follows Captain Condor, a space pilot exiled to the moon Hyperion, as he attempts to rescue victims of a dictator by capturing a mechanical mole and escaping in a space-cruiser before enemy forces close in. Another serial story, "The Naval Castaways," depicts a World War II mission in Nazi-occupied France where commandos successfully complete an operation and return via helicopter to an aircraft carrier, with their victory celebrated by airborne troops. The issue also features "Jingo Jones and His Invisibiliser" by Tom Stirling, in which the protagonist uses an invisibility gadget to outwit his schoolmate Hoggins during a swimming outing. Additionally, the issue includes a "World-Wide Quiz" section with fourteen general-knowledge questions on topics ranging from famous landmarks to animals and geography.
