The reading room
Lion #4
Lion #4 is an anthology featuring five picture stories. "Outlaw of Space" by Frank S. Pepper follows Captain Condor, a space pilot in the year 3000, as he attempts to escape from a tyrannical dictator's forces by piloting his ship across the moons of Saturn with assistance from a friend. A second story depicts two British commandos executing a plan to trick a Nazi officer and escape capture with help from a French farmer during World War II, with the Gestapo pursuing them. "Rod of the Trading Post" by R.G. Thomas follows Rod Fleming, a trapper, as he investigates a mystery surrounding Pierre Durand's cabin, which has been marked with a false "gone away" notice, leading to the discovery of masked strangers involved in a kidnapping plot. The issue also includes a reader competition offering 1,000 prizes for a "Spotters" picture-puzzle game and various other features typical of the period's British comics.
