This anthology issue contains two stories. "The Bride Wore Tears" depicts a woman who fears her marriage will fail because her fiancé Phil lacks courage, but after they marry and settle into their new home, she questions whether he truly loves her when he becomes distant and ashamed of her behavior at a social gathering, leading to a major argument. In "Lover Come Back," a woman whose husband Dan is stationed overseas receives daily letters that sustain her through loneliness, but when she receives a telegram informing her of his death, she loses the will to live—until Dan unexpectedly returns home alive, having written letters that arrived after his safe return was communicated.
