A college freshman named Gaila becomes involved with Carter Cowell, a handsome senior, to make her ex-boyfriend Joel jealous, but her deception backfires when Joel discovers the truth and confronts her about lying. After a tearful separation, Gaila attends finishing school where she meets Harvey Mawyer and becomes infatuated with him, only to learn he is already interested in another girl named Erlene. Gaila eventually reconciles with Joel, realizing that her attempts to manipulate her love life through dishonesty and jealousy have only caused her pain.
