Love Diary #31 is an anthology of three romantic stories. The first story follows a woman named Nella who forgets a date with her boyfriend Johnny to go dancing with Bruce instead, only to realize during their evening together that Bruce is a shallow flirt and her heart truly belongs to Johnny. "Prescription for Happiness" centers on Sally, who seeks advice from counselor Ray Mann after becoming involved with Randy Johnson, her sister Jean's former friend; Sally grows close to Randy but discovers he is dishonest and leaves him, later realizing Jean was right to distrust him. The final story, "Weekend of Shame," depicts Linda's romantic entanglement with Rick, a man she meets at a resort; after they share an intimate moment, Linda realizes Rick wants nothing serious from her and leaves him, reflecting that his casual treatment hurt her deeply.
