"Lovelorn" #36 is an anthology romance comic featuring the story "Heartthrobs Woe Business," in which Jean Thorne, a woman who has lived her life in the shadows of other women's romantic relationships, must choose between marrying Tom, a poor man she loves, or pursuing wealth and security without him. After initially rejecting Tom's proposal and becoming engaged to a wealthy man, Jean realizes too late that she has made a mistake and that true happiness requires taking a chance on love rather than material comfort. The issue includes additional romance-themed content and public service advertisements, including one about treating pimples with Clearasil.
