Manhunt #9 (June 1948) This issue features multiple crime and adventure stories. One story involves detectives investigating a fortune-teller racket where victims are blackmailed after being told how to make illegal money, leading the authorities to smash the criminal gang. Another story follows Kirk, a daring character, as he battles a monstrous creature called the Fog-Man in the Thames River and rescues a kidnapped girl, ultimately defeating the creature with a special red-beam flashlight. A third tale features a girl who becomes trapped in a temple with an animated stone statue of Jain Strides that comes to life and pursues her through the building before ultimately being destroyed.
