"I Loved Thoughtlessly" follows a woman named Jill who becomes mentally ill after a painful encounter with Johnny Peters, a man she once loved. After her breakdown, she is hospitalized and eventually recovers with the help of Dr. Josh Williams. Meanwhile, her friend Sandy becomes involved with a man named Jeff who is being manipulated by his sister into spreading rumors about Jill; Sandy confronts Jeff and urges him to tell the truth and reunite with Jill. In the final sequences, Jill goes on a date with a man named Earl (actually named Ben), but she becomes distressed when she realizes he is actually her ex-lover Bob, who had previously deceived her; after he takes her dancing and she realizes the truth, Jill chooses to focus on her friendship with Josh instead.
