Private Gregg of B Company lands on a Sicilian beach during World War II and is struck by shrapnel, losing consciousness. Upon awakening, he discovers shadowy soldiers approaching—the ancient warriors of a bygone era whose armor and weapons belong to no modern age. Gregg realizes he has encountered the legendary soldiers of history who once fought on this rocky shore, and he must defeat the Black Knight in combat before he can find his way to safety. The issue also contains a romance story in which a man named Paul reunites with his cousin Jean and her friend Yvonne, leading to revelations about love and commitment, and a humorous tale titled "Jack and Jill" featuring Mother Shmoos' retelling of the classic nursery rhyme to misbehaving children.
