An anthology presenting battle tales of various naval vessels during wartime. "The Fingers of Fate" depicts a massive Japanese aircraft carrier christened early in the war as a symbol of naval power, which becomes the target of Allied forces determined to avenge losses in the Coral Sea. The story follows poorly trained young American flyers selected for a suicide kamikaze-style mission to destroy the enemy carrier.
