New Heroic Comics #56

New Heroic Comics #56 is an anthology featuring true stories of heroic acts. One story depicts a young construction worker named Hobson who conceives a plan to end Spanish blockade of a harbor by attaching mines to an enemy ship's collier; despite Admiral Sampson's initial objections, Hobson receives permission to carry out the dangerous mission on June 3rd, leading to a successful but costly attack. Another story chronicles the rescue of a boy named Billy who falls into sinking mud; a man in a yellow jacket discovers Billy trapped and, after Billy's attempts to flee fail, manages to pull the boy to safety, earning a medal and monetary reward. A third story, "Task Force Frigid," recounts P.F.C. Raymond Kenyon of Greenwich, Rhode Island, who during a routine jump near Fairbanks, Alaska, grabbed the shroud lines of a fellow paratrooper's collapsed parachute and lunged for them, bringing both men safely to the ground despite dangerous crosswinds.
