This anthology issue features multiple true-life heroic stories. One account follows P.F.C. Butterworth, a medic during an explosive battlefield engagement who disregards his own safety to clear a minefield and treat casualties, ultimately earning the Bronze Star medal for his heroism. Another story, "When Seconds Count," recounts how 13-year-old Roy Alexander heard playmates screaming near the Harrisville Canal, plunged into the swift-flowing water when a 4-year-old girl fell in, and successfully rescued her from drowning. A third story depicts Kenneth Walker, an aid man on the Korean battlefront, maintaining vigilance over his assigned area and leading an advance patrol to treat and retrieve wounded soldiers.
