After walling up the cat's body, the man is haunted by guilt and supernatural manifestations of his crime, ultimately resulting in his own doom when authorities discover his victim—and the cat's ghostly presence—hidden within his home. The issue also contains "The Horror on the S.S. Malabar," depicting a ship caught in a devastating storm where passengers face drowning and desperation as rescue appears impossible, with an American vessel spotted but unwilling to risk aid in the treacherous seas.
