This anthology issue features two main stories: "The Skull-Forest of Old Earth," in which a colonization team discovers evidence of a previously unknown civilization on a monitored planet and must search for one of their missing members, Rosalie, who vanishes under mysterious circumstances; and "The Gargoyle Trilogy," the first tale of which is set in 1866 Bucharest where an old sculptor commissioned by Prince Karl Eitel Friedrich to create three monstrous gargoyles for a palace begins to suspect a supernatural curse, with the story continuing into scenes of theft, pursuit, and supernatural entrapment involving a white cat with mysterious powers.
