Nyoka the Jungle Girl #44 The issue contains two stories. In the main Nyoka story, a professor conducting scientific research on jungle herbs asks Nyoka to retrieve a rare plant that could change a gorilla into a human. Nyoka obtains the herb from Clover, a gorilla who has been given human intelligence, but when she returns to the laboratory, she discovers the professor has been killed—his face blown apart by a chemical explosion. In the backup story "Tommy and Tommy," two boys cause chaos at the Dry Gulch Inn when one of them falls out a hotel window and the other is blamed for pushing him out, leading to various misadventures as they attempt to prove their innocence.
