Hopalong Cassidy and his young companion rescue a donkey that needs help. Cassidy then encounters Stretch, a character at a mysterious location where servants prepare an elaborate dinner; Stretch discovers a golden egg that could make him wealthy and never work again. In a separate story, a group of children on their way to see a theatrical production at the Hammock Theatre encounter an old man who tries to teach them a lesson by trapping them in darkness, but they persist in attending the show.
