An anthology of three romance stories: "The Truth of My Affair with a Farm Boy" follows a woman who meets Carl, a farm boy, and has a romantic fling before he moves on to city life and parties, leading her to reflect on how the brief encounter changed her outlook on life. "Too Impatient for Love!" depicts Art and Carol's engagement party, where Carol worries that Art will meet someone else while away at college; her friend Helen suggests she trap him into marriage, but Carol ultimately decides against this manipulative approach. "Coal Town Girl" shows Karen, a coal miner's daughter desperate to escape her impoverished hometown, planning to take household money to visit Templeton for a day to pretend she's not from the coal region, while her father discovers the house is neglected and confronts her about her dreams of leaving.
